SUPPORT GROUPS

  • RECOVERY AT COKESBURY

Recovery At Cokesbury is a Biblically based program of recovery for individuals and/or their family members suffering from addictions and/or emotional distress. RAC meets every Thursday night on the North Campus. We provide a meal each week at 5:30 p.m. The service begins with the RAC Band at 6:30 p.m. We then hear a testimony of recovery, read the 12 steps and Biblical comparisons. We hear a message that combines recovery principles with God’s word. Each week there are small groups that meet at 7:45 p.m. If you have any questions about the service or small groups, please call the Recovery At Cokesbury office at (865) 246-0449. Are you suffering after the death of someone close to you? Grief is emotionally and physically painful. The pain is so deep that it can become overwhelming. Cokesbury’s Grief Support Group meetings are a place for you to rest and restore. This group uses a curriculum from Griefshare to work through the process of grieving. You are invited to join us each Monday evening from 6:30 – 8:00 in person in Room 200 on the North Campus, or via Zoom.

Please email Rev. Shirley Gross for more information.

  • HOPE CONNECTION

By first building a relationship, we are able to better understand each individual’s situation and focus on creating lasting change in their quality of life. During this process, volunteers meet with families and get to know their story. In many cases, our team can provide tools for success and offer support along the way. Click here for more information about Hope Connection.

CAREGIVING

The goal of the Congregational Care ministry is to provide a caring Christian community where every person can find strength and support when they are hurting. We encourage all of you to find ways to care for those in your small groups or in your community. Telephone calls, cards, prayers, and meals send a message of caring and compassion. If you are in need of care, or if you wish to volunteer for one of our care teams, please email Shirley Gross or call 865-246-0448.

KNIT OR CROCHET PRAYER SHAWLS

Donate your time and talents by creating knitted and crocheted shawls, filled with the power of prayer, for those in need. For more information and to learn how to contribute a prayer shawl for this ministry, please fill out this form.

BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT

In a family, the time of the greatest need is during the loss of a loved one. Join a team who cares for and attends to the needs of a grieving family during the funeral services. Volunteers are needed to prepare a dish, help serve a meal or help the pastors attend to the grieving family before and/or after the service. The ministry operates on an on-call basis, being available to serve when needed. Volunteers report that while serving during this time is a ministry of giving, they receive great blessings from doing so. Please contact Rev. Shirley Gross at sgross@cokesbury.tv or 865-246-0448 if you wish to volunteer or are in need of bereavement care.
